Grading is an investment decision, not a rite of passage. Whether a slab makes sense comes down to conversion: how efficiently a raw copy’s cost turns into a certified 9.8 sale price after fees. Multipliers help visualize that conversion. If a book sells raw for a modest sum and the same book in CGC 9.8 commands many times more, the spread can swallow grading, pressing, and shipping while still leaving upside.
